Custom fiberglass fabrication transforms your design specifications into durable, precision-engineered parts, so you get the fiberglass benefits of strength, corrosion resistance, and design flexibility in one material.

At CMDT Manufacturing, we handle the complete fiberglass process, from mold creation to production, delivering custom fiberglass solutions for industrial, aviation, wastewater, and other applications.

Custom Fiberglass Process

Our custom fiberglass process eliminates typical barriers to customization. We provide full in-house services, so you don’t need to source mold making separately or manage handoffs between shops.

Pattern Development

We start with your STEP files or design notes. From there, our team looks at what the part needs to do in the real world and helps turn the concept into something fully manufacturable. At this stage, we are able to help answer key questions like:

  • How can we achieve this design with fiberglass?
  • What will tooling look like for the project?
  • What design modifications will improve manufacturability without compromising function?

Mold Making

We create the molds in-house, controlling quality and timing throughout the entire process. We design our fiberglass molds to ensure the highest level of part quality, no matter how high the production volume requirements are. We can even build multi-part molds to accommodate large-scale objects.

Fabrication and Finishing

Using chopper spray guns and multiple resin types, including general-purpose, high-temperature, and vinyl ester resins, we can then fabricate your parts to exact specifications. We add foam stiffener core material where structural requirements demand it, and can apply automotive-grade finishes that meet both aesthetic and protective coating needs.

Benefits of Customization

Custom fiberglass delivers performance advantages that off-the-shelf alternatives can’t match. Key benefits include:

  • Corrosion resistance. Fiberglass withstands harsh chemical environments without degrading, making it ideal for wastewater treatment equipment and industrial applications
  • Design flexibility. Complex geometries, integrated features, and optimized weight distribution are all achievable with the right fiberglass layup and tooling
  • Cost efficiency at scale. While initial mold investment requires consideration, production costs decrease significantly for medium to high-volume runs
  • Durability. Properly engineered fiberglass parts outlast many metal alternatives in corrosive or high-moisture environments, reducing long-term maintenance

These benefits make fiberglass a strong alternative to metal for many of our customers, especially where corrosion, weight, or complex shapes present challenges.

Fiberglass Applications

We manufacture custom fiberglass parts across diverse industries and use cases.

Industrial Manufacturing

Packaging chutes, protective valve boxes, and custom enclosures serve facilities where corrosion resistance and tight dimensional requirements are required.

Aviation

Airline hoppers and specialized components that demand lightweight construction with structural integrity can benefit from our experience in meeting custom fabrication requirements.

Wastewater Treatment

Pump skids and protective valve boxes withstand ongoing exposure to corrosive materials. This growing segment increasingly requires fiberglass solutions as municipalities upgrade aging infrastructure.

Pool and Spa Industry

Aquatics and recreational facilities require components that are designed for safe and dependable use. Custom fiberglass allows us to match specific installation requirements, whether for slides, pool fountains, or other setups.

Municipal and Construction

Manhole covers and other city infrastructure components demand durability, standardized specifications, and reliable resistance to weather and chemicals.
